The Galaxy Fold appears to be shelved indefinitely.

It was recently reported that Samsung began cancelling all preorders for the Galaxy Fold and those who wanted the device no matter how long the delay, they had to contact the South Korean tech giant regarding the same. Now, in what may come as great news for Samsung as well as those looking to buy the device, Samsung is believed to be announcing a new launch date in a few days time.

As per reports stemming from South Korea, The Korean Herald claims that Samsung is near to announcing a new launch date indicating that the smartphone giant has resolved any issues that were affecting the devices. Speaking on the issue, Samsung’s CEO DJ Koh has stated that Samsung has “reviewed the defect caused from substances (that entered the device)." The Galaxy Fold manufacturer will arrive at a conclusion on the US launch date “in a couple of days.”

The Samsung Galaxy Fold was scheduled to be launched in the US on April 26; however, the date was scrapped after some early reviews started showing some unforeseen problems. Later, Samsung began sending out emails to those who had pre-ordered the device, indicating that their Galaxy Fold orders would be automatically cancelled if the handset did not ship before May 31. While this did not instil confidence in those who pre-ordered it, the new comments by Koh indicate that Samsung has gone back to the drawing board and issued a suitable fix for the screen issues.

Koh revealed that the launch date would “not be too late which could indicate that the Fold could launch before the end of this month. While we wait for further word from Samsung regarding the launch of the Galaxy Fold, this should appease those who are holding out for this brand new smartphone category from the tech giant.
