Samsung's latest Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) comes with big 5000mAh battery

The tablet sports an 8-inch 1280 x 800-pixel resolution display and runs on the latest Samsung Experience based on Android Nougat 7.1.

Tablets are a dying breed and yet manufacturers are not giving up on these niche devices, despite similarly-priced smartphones eating up sales. Samsung in its effort has unveiled a tablet aimed towards the budget tablet category in Vietnam. Called the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), the tablet’s highlight is its big 5000mAh battery. The tablet has been priced at VND 6,490,000 (Rs 18,200) for the 4G LTE model.

The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) is built on Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset accompanied by 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB. The tablet sports an 8-inch 1280 x 800-pixel resolution display and runs on the latest Samsung Experience based on Android Nougat 7.1. It also has a 4G LTE nano-SIM card tray.

The Galaxy tab A 8.0 (2017) comes with a big 5000mAh battery that Samsung claims can last up to 14 hours of video playback. The tablet also gets an 8MP rear camera with an aperture of f/1.9 and a 5MP front camera. The Tab A 8.0 (2017) has a metal unibody and follows the design language of the Galaxy J-series smartphone.

Samsung hasn’t said anything about the availability of the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) in India. If it comes, then expect it to go against the budget tablets from local manufacturers like Micromax and Intex as well as from international players like HP and Lenovo.
