For debuting MIUI 9, Xiaomi brought the new Mi 5X their latest mid-ranger.

In a recent Twitter post, Xiaomi’s VP Manu Kumar Jain spoke about the arrival of a dual camera smartphone from Xiaomi. The post carries a photo of him with the bokeh effect applied. However, he left his followers guessing for the name of the smartphone.

If you have been following technology news recently, Xiaomi had unveiled a dual camera smartphone in China lately. Dubbed the Mi 5X, the smartphone is essentially a Redmi Note 4 with a dual rear camera sensor. The smartphone packs a 5.5-inch full-HD display and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor backed by 4GB of RAM. It runs MIUI 9 on top of Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. The device comes equipped with a dual camera setup with 1.25-micron pixel 12MP sensor and f/2.2 aperture, and a 12-megapixel telephoto with 1-micron pixel sensor and f/2.6 aperture.

However, the Mi 5X isn’t the only dual camera Xiaomi phone launched this year. Their flagship handset for this year is the Mi 6 — a smartphone that packs in a Snapdragon 835 chipset along with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. It has one wide-angle 12MP camera lens and a 12MP telephoto lens, which is almost the same unit from the Mi 5X, although tad improved.

Both these smartphones are on sale in China but are still not part of Xiaomi India’s portfolio. Both the phones have a high possibility to arrive in India in September. The Mi 5X with its mid-range specifications could sit above the Redmi Note 4 in the company’s portfolio and could be priced at Rs 15,000 — a price point where other mid-range phones with dual cameras are available.

The Mi 6, on the other hand, could challenge the OnePlus 3T or even the OnePlus 5 with its flagship specifications and a premium build quality, which could be priced around the Rs 30,000 mark.

However, one thing is for sure — either of these phones will surely bring the latest MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat, which brings in a lot of improvement over the existing MIUI 8. The post claims that the dual camera Xiaomi phone will be launched in September and we will have to wait till then for the ‘hyped’ smartphone.
