Apple's next top iPhone model will be called iPhone X, code leak reveals

Just a couple of days before Apple’s official announcement about three new iPhone models, a code leak, first spotted by 9to5mac, has revealed that the top new iPhone will be called iPhone X, but not iPhone 8.  Instead, the other two models expected to be named iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus are likely to called iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

App and game developer Steven Toughen-Smith discovered the names in strings of software code, which he also revealed in a Twitter post.

As the names suggest, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are successors to Apple’s last flagships iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, running on a faster processor. While the iPhone X is that much-awaited ‘iPhone 8’ model which has been designed to mark a special 10th anniversary of the original iPhone.

iPhone X is the premium version with an all-new design, crisper OLED display, improved cameras, and a 3-D facial recognition scanner for unlocking the device, reported the Bloomberg.

The phones are scheduled to be unveiled on September 12 at an event in Steve Jobs Theater in California, US.
