OnePlus 5 and 5T might get Android 8.1 Oreo update soon
A recent Android 8.1 beta update has been rolled out from OnePlus for its current flagships OnePlus 5 and 5T.
OnePlus has announced its new open beta program for OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones. This new open beta is supposed to bring the latest Android 8.1 Oreo update to its current flagship phones. Since this is a beta program user need to be subscribed to its Open Beta program.
OnePlus rolled this new update, which happens to be the sixth beta update to the already existing beta program. This features the latest Android 8.1 Oreo version, according to the changelog mentioned by the company, there are a bunch of new features added to this update. Most importantly, the Phone app gets an update that includes a new auto pickup gesture, which can allow the user to pick up the incoming call by the raising phone (such type of gestures were introduced by Samsung, since Galaxy S5).
In addition to this major change, OnePlus has also added few minor changes. The company has made some optimisations for gaming mode, which might allow the user to have an immersive gaming experience that includes turning off adaptive brightness, power saving and also includes notification blocking. This update also features latest Google’s February 2018 security patch as well.
Furthermore, this new version includes new ‘global roaming solution’ and the company has also added backup app data feature if you happen to use other smartphones other than OnePlus. Currently, this new beta is available for OnePlus 5 and 5T as of now and can be downloaded from the OnePlus website. Instructions have also been provided, in case you are new to this beta programme. The official update might soon roll out to to 5/5T via OTA (Over-the-air) update. However, there is no official announcement regarding the older phones’ 3/3T 8.1 updates as they are on Android 8.0 already.
