iPhone 11 drawbacks Apple doesn't want you to know
From a heavier design right down to the removal of 3D Touch; here are features Apple doesn't want you to know.
At the iPhone 11 event, Apple made sure that its newest range of smartphones is the ones worth upgrading to and to an extent, this is quite true. However, there are some features that the Cupertino-brand glossed over which actually make you stop and think — does the iPhone 11 even warrant an upgrade? Read on to find out more.
First, let’s look at the plus points of the Apple iPhone 11 Pro and the 11 Pro Max. It comes with triple rear camera setup, a fresh matte finish and incredible battery life. And if you feel this is enough to warrant an upgrade, then the iPhone 11 Pro or Pro Max is the handsets for you.
The big miss here is the lack of 3D Touch. This feature has been quite popular amongst users the world over and when introduced with the iPhone 6S, it actually changed the way we used our smartphones. 3D Touch was one of the standout features of every flagship iPhone and this trait was tipped to revolutionize the way we used our smartphones.
Although 3D Touch was copied by virtually every Android manufacturer, it never actually lived up to Apple’s implementation — which is still considered one of the best in the world. The rumours surrounding Apple’s removal of 3D Touch started a few months ago and this was widely expected to happen. Even the last year’s iPhone XR did not feature it so the writing was on the wall from the very beginning. However, with the iPhone 11 series being officially unveiled, the inevitable has finally happened and Apple’s iPhones no longer come with 3D Touch; which is honestly quite disappointing.
Apple has replaced 3D Touch with Haptic Touch and unlike the pressure-sensitive option; you need to long-press on the display to get a haptic feedback. A lot of the features that were reliant on 3D Touch such as quick actions on the home screen icons now make use of Haptic Touch. This shows that the iPhone 11 Pro users should not miss out on a lot in terms of functionality. It will just take a matter of getting used to.
The next biggest miss is that the Apple iPhone 11 Pro is a lot heavier than previous versions. To put this into perspective, the iPhone XS weighed 177g while the iPhone 11 Pro weighs 188g. The iPhone XS Max weighs just 208g and the new iPhone 11 Pro Max weighs a massive 226g.
So where exactly does this extra heft come from? In all likelihood, it is the battery. The iPhone 11 Pro series offers up to five hours of extra battery in comparison to the iPhone XS. With this extra battery, you will get up to 18 hours of video playback, 11 hours of streaming and 65 hours of audio playback. However, with this being said, using an iPhone for this long for video streaming will certainly cause some wrist fatigue especially because of the heavier weight. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 in comparison weighs a mere 168g which is 20g less than the iPhone 11 Pro. And watching content on the Samsung option due to its lightweight form factor is an amazing experience. However, we can’t comment on the video viewing experience with respect to wrist fatigue until we review the iPhone 11 Pro.
These are the biggest misses on the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max which Apple may not want you to know about.
