Moto C leaks as the Moto E's younger brother
Motorola's idea of an entry-level smartphone takes shape in a leaked report.
Lenovo-led Motorola seems to be quite busy these days and is putting all efforts to dominate all the segments of the smartphone industry. After the 2017 Moto E twins leaked few days ago, a Venturebeat report suggests that Motorola is planning to attack the entry-level smartphone buyer with the new Moto C series.
The two models – the Moto C and the Moto C Plus are rendered in an image with all the colour options that will be available for the device. Both the devices will have identical screen size of 5-inches with varying screen resolution; i.e. the Moto C would feature a 854 x 480 resolution screen whereas the Moto C Plus would flaunt a 1280 x 720 HD screen.
A look at probable feature list suggests that the specifications won’t be revealing any powerhouse, thanks to Motorola’s budget conscious target audience. While the Moto C will offer a choice of 3G or 4G capability, the Moto C Plus will offer 4G LTE capability. Motorola’s preference of MediaTek processors over Snapdragon chipsets is evident with these phones too. The Moto C 3G will run on a 32-bit quad core processor clocked at 1.3GHz while the 4G variant will operate on a 64-bit processor operating on a slower 1.1GHz clock speed. The Moto C Plus will be using the 64-bit processor too, but with a higher clock speed of 1.3GHz.
The standard Moto C will feature 1GB of RAM in both the 3G and 4G variants and will offer 8/16GB of internal storage. The Plus variant will offer 1 or 2 GB RAM along with 16 GB internal storage. Although the specifications aren’t good enough for a power user, the phones should run well with Android 7.0 Nougat.
The camera sensors are speculated to be average specifications as well – 5MP fixed-focus sensor for the Moto C 3G, 5MP auto-focus sensor on the 4G variant and an 8MP auto-focus sensor for the Plus variant. All of them will use a 2MP front sensor for the selfie duties.
However, Motorola has taken care of battery department. The standard Moto C will use a 2350mAh battery as the power source whereas the Plus variant will use a 4000mAh one.
As per the leaked image, the phones will be available in black, white, gold and red.
When launched, the Moto C will have to battle it out with existing contenders from likes of Smasung, Xiaomi, Micromax, LeEco and more.
While there’s no official confirmation from Motorola for the authenticity of the claims, the claims might take shape as popular leakster Evan Blass has confirmed on the report.
