Samsung’s mid-range smartphone Galaxy A9 Pro has been tipped to receive the Android Nougat update soon. The device — which was launched in May 2016 with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box — was recently spotted on Geekbench and GFXBench running the latest Android Nougat OS. This has led many to believe that Samsung has commenced software testing on the Galaxy A9 Pro smartphone.

In any case, if the Galaxy A9 Pro does receive the Nougat update, it will be the original v7.0 and not the latest v7.1.1. Nonetheless, the smartphone has been confirmed to receive all major updates with the latest Google June security patch.

The latest Android Nougat update will bring several new features such as night mode, bundled notification, improved battery optimisation, multi-window options and more. Samsung is also believed to incorporate custom features of its own to the software including the Always On Display that lets users change the clock colour, enhanced accessibility, lock screen personalisation option to improve notifications on display, card dynamic adjustment of display size, revamped calendar app, new font option for titles among other new features.
