Take a peek at the OnePlus 8 series phones and accessories launching tomorrow
OnePlus is launching its next big flagship on April 14, and it promises to be as feature packed as ever
Chennai: OnePlus has been playing a big tease releasing bits and pieces of info about the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro phones ahead of tomorrow’s launch.
Here, we put it all together so you know what to look forward to when you watch the launch at 8.30 on the OnePlus site (https://www.oneplus.in/launch) or on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOJvQWHuc-E).
Camera
The OnePlus 8 is touted to feature triple cameras with the primary camera at 48 MP while the OnePlus 8 Pro is likely to have quad cameras on the rear with the primary camera at 64 MP (or will it?). For all the actual juicy bits, watch the launch tomorrow on the OnePlus site.
Screen
Rivaling the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, the OnePlus 8 Pro is rumoured to feature an always on 120 Hz refresh rate super smooth display. Will the OnePlus 8 also feature the same refresh rate or will it go with its predecessor OnePlus 7T’s competent enough 90 Hz?
Processor
Phones in the OnePlus 8 series are expected to feature the fastest and highest-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset.
Warp Charge
The 30W Warp charge fast-charging option is already standard in OnePlus flagships. With OnePlus CEO Pete Lau tweeting about a wireless Warp Charger, there’s something cool to look forward to in tomorrow’s launch. Wireless charging is likely to be available only in the OnePlus 8 Pro model.
Waterproofing
The one thing that OnePlus has not yet addressed, apart from wireless charging, among its otherwise premium phones, is the ability to keep water and dust away from the devices. Will the OnePlus 8 series finally comes with a high IP rating? It is said that the OnePlus 8 Pro willl have an IP 68 rating but the OnePlus 8 won’t.
Colours
What’s interesting about the colours a phone sports, which though cosmetic, is that it decides whether a phone is premium or not. OnePlus 8 series sure seem to have played this game well. The phones will come in ‘Interstellar Glow’ featuring what looks on paper to flow from purplish hue through blue to yellow-orange. Another option is a striking green. OnePlus also gives you a bold and beautiful black, according to leaks we’ve seen.
Price
Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, which presumably the OnePlus 8 Pro will be pitted against, the price will stay below USD 1,000 (Rs 76,000 approx), CEO Pete Lau hinted.
Accessories
OnePlus is also set to launch its Bullets Z earphones, which is an update on the excellent Bullets 2 model. The cordless earphones will will equipped with IP 55 waterproofing, making it perfect for your workouts and outdoor activity. What’s cooler is that you will be able to charge it wirelessly. Expected to launch in four sporty colours.
