Honor unveils its flagship Honor 9 smartphone in China

The flagship from Huawei's sub-brand has been launched in three RAM/storage variants and starts as Rs 22,000.

The smartphone will go against the likes of Nokia 8 which was recently launched in the Indian market. Honor is also expected to unveil the mid-range Honor 7X on October 11.

Huawei has unveiled the successor to the Honor 8 in China – the Honor 9. the smartphone comes in three variants and starts from a price of roughly Rs 22,000.

The new Honor flagship packs a 5.15-inch full HD display with Huawei’s own Kirin 960 processor with four cores clocked at 2.4GHz and the other four at 1.8GHz. There’s an option of 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage priced around Rs 22,000, 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage priced around Rs 26,000, and 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage priced around Rs 28,500. It runs on EMUI 5.1 based on Android Nougat 7.1.1.

The smartphone sports a dual rear camera, where a 20MP monochrome sensor sits along a 12MP RGB sensor with f/2.2, PDAF and two-tone LED flash. There’s an 8MP camera at the front. This should let its buyers shoot good quality portraits. The rear camera can record 4K videos as well.

The smartphone also packs a 3200mAh battery for powering the device. Amongst the list of fancy goodies, it sports a USB Type-C port and gets support for Huawei Pay out-of-the-box. The Honor 9 will be available in Amber Gold, Black, and Blue colours. However, nothing has been mentioned about an India launch as of now.
