Now that the South-Korean manufacturer has already rolled out its highly anticipated product Galaxy Note 9, it's surely working on something new and revolutionary. No, we are not talking about the future flagship model Galaxy S10 but this is about a whole new concept of smartphone - foldable smartphone.

In a recent report by Patently Apple, the portal reminds us of the company president Koh Dong-Jin's statement when he spoke about the foldable smartphone. Not revealing many details, he said that the company doesn't want to hand over the title of the first brand to introduce the concept. Moreover, the president also stated that the phone will be expensive owing to its dual-screen nature.

Samsung had filed a patent regarding the dual-display foldable smartphone back in 2013 saying that the final version may be revealed by 2015. Well, that didn't happen, obviously. However, this month, the company has filed another patent which is about the hinge concept for the dual display smartphone.

The company has been slipping from its position of the top smartphone seller in countries like India and China which could be attributed to potent rivals such as Xiaomi and OnePlus coming into the picture. However, the company might be toiling itself towards creating something new to regain its popularity and user base.

There's no confirmation as to when we will get to see this evolution of smartphone from Samsung but the company president stated that there will be a separate event for this new concept and it is not too far.
