Apple's latest iPhone SE launched starting at Rs 42,500 a compact, competent device
The special edition iPhone is a performer that replaces the iPhone 8 but gets the latest A13 bionic chipset from the iPhone 11 series
Chennai: Apple has launched its iPhone SE 2020 for the ardent iPhone lover who prefers a small wonder to the big badasses out there, including the iPhone 11. Not just that, with budgets getting smaller, a cheaper iPhone, without compromises on the premium iPhone feel and storage space is a welcome addition, especially in India.
The iPhone SE looks pretty much the same as the iPhone 8 which had the same screen size of 4.7 inches but gets the same Apple A13 bionic chipset used in the bigger iPhone 11, the latest of iPhone flagships. So, expect a power-packed performance from the compact device.
Prices start at Rs 42,500 for the model with 64 GB storage, while the 128 GB and 256 GB model prices are yet to be announced.
The 2020 iPhone SE is Apple’s most affordable phone although it is pricier in India compared to the much lower USD 399 starting price in the United States, which works out to Rs 30,500.
In fact the top storage version in the US, offering 256 GB of memory, at Rs 45,000, costs only Rs 2,500 more than the 64 GB model in India.
Apple has not announced when the Special Edition (SE) iPhone will be available in India but people in the US can start pre-ordering the iPhone SE on April 17, while the phones will be available for sale from April 24.
