Xiaomi Redmi 5 leaks
The successor to Redmi 4 is also supposed to have fast charging as well as a design inspired from this year's Mi Max 2.
Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi 4 smartphone a few months ago and has already gained favour amongst the budget smartphone seekers. However, it seems that Xiaomi is already working on its next version, the Redmi 5, according to a leak from Weibo.
An elaborated report of the same by Fonearena claims that the Redmi 5 is an incremental update to last year’s Redmi 4. The smartphone will be utilising two variants of Qualcomm’s budget chipsets – a 14nm 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset and a 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 630 chipset. The Redmi 5 is supposed to sport 3GB RAM for the 16/32GB model and 4GB RAM for the 32/64GB model, along with 128GB expandable storage.
As for the camera department, the Redmi 5 is graced with a 16MP rear sensor with PDAF along with dual-tone LED Flash and a 5MP front facing camera. The smartphone is also supposed to come with a smaller 3600mAh battery. However, this is the first time that a budget Xiaomi smartphone is slated to come with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is rumoured to start at 859 yuan (Rs 8,160) for the 3/16GB Snapdragon 625 version and the 3/32GB storage version of it is said to cost 1039 yuan (Rs 9875 approx.). The Snapdragon 630 version with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, 4GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage are said to be priced at 1099 yuan (Rs 10,445), 1199 yuan (Rs 11,395) and 1299 yuan (Rs 12,345), respectively. However, take this with a pinch of salt as there’s no official statement from the company yet.
