Would trust this Rs 19,000 iPhone clone over an all-rounder midrange smartphone?
Leagoo's S9 resembles the iPhone X's notch as well as the narrow-bezel-display.
If you are looking for a cheap knock-off of a popular gadget from the civilised world, then China and its brands are the places to look for. In the past, we have seen several Chinese manufacturers imitating popular Samsung as well as Apple flagships for less than half the price of the actual products. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before the mighty iPhone X would see a cheaper version of itself. And here it is — Leagoo S9.
One look at the Leagoo S9 and you can almost be fooled into thinking the S9 to be an iPhone X, with its familiar notch, the wallpaper and even the vertically stacked rear camera. However, all of that ‘iPhone-ness’ is given away the moment you see the fingerprint sensor situated on the rear panel. You will also notice a considerable amount of bezel at the bottom, which the iPhone X will laugh at.
The Leagoo S9 is essentially an Android smartphone underneath, which is powered by a MediaTek P40 chipset accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The display is a 5.85-inch AMOLED panel, explaining the punchy colours seen in the pictures.
Do note that the S9 isn’t yet available for sale yet, with the company looking to launch the phone soon so as to recover the development costs as soon as possible. The Leagoo S9 is expected to be priced around $300 (approximately Rs 19,000), which is not at all bad for a seemingly decent midrange smartphone. And if all you want is to fool onlookers for a relatively inexpensive amount of money, then there can’t be a better way to do that than getting one of these and some Apple stickers.
