Essential Phone with built-in Amazon Alexa launched

The new Halo Gray variant can be pre-ordered via Amazon and is scheduled to go on sale starting February 21.

A new variant of Essential Phone has been launched — Halo Gray with built-in Alexa (Amazon’s virtual personal assistant) that cost less. The new variant is almost similar to the Stellar model that was introduced earlier. Both devices come unlocked and have identical specifications.

"In case three new Essential Phone colours weren't enough, today we're unveiling Halo Gray, the first Essential Phone to come with Alexa built-in. Halo Gray is available for pre-order exclusively from Amazon starting today," the company wrote on Twitter.

The Essential Phone boasts a 5.7-inch edge-to-edge QHD display with a resolution of 1312x2560 pixels along with 19:10 aspect ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 chipset with Adreno 540 GPU and 4GB RAM. The device offers 128GB of storage option.

As for the camera, the smartphone sports a 13MP dual rear camera setup with RGB and monochrome lens long with hybrid autofocus, phase detection, IR Laser Assist Focus and 4K video support. On the front, the handset sports an 8MP selfie sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 4K video support as well.  As for the connectivity options, the phone includes Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, 4G LTE, NFC, GPS, USB Type-C port, and GLONASS. The device is backed by a 3040mAh battery with fast charging support.

The new Halo Gray variant can be pre-ordered via Amazon and is scheduled to go on sale starting February 21. The new version with Amazon Alexa built-in is priced at just $449.99 (approximately Rs 28,900).
