The replacement cost is only slightly higher than the cost of replacing a regular non-folding screen on devices like the iPhone.

The futuristic folding screen of the new Motorola Moto Razr might make you believe that a screen replacement for this phone will cost a fortune. The argument is strengthened by the fact that the phone itself costs USD 1500 or about Rs 1,08,000.

But the actual replacement price may surprise you. While the first foldable-screen phone, the Galaxy Fold costs USD 2,000, a screen replacement outside of the warranty period will cost USD 599 which is a third of the phone’s actual price. In comparison, an out of warranty screen replacement for the USD 1,500 Moto Razr will cost just USD 299.

The price isn’t that high considering the technology that goes into the Moto Razr screen. It is in fact only slightly higher than the cost of replacing a regular non-folding screen on devices like the iPhone.

Foldable screens look cool but they are notoriously fragile and expensive. The Galaxy Fold showed us that while we were entering the era of bending screens, the technology is far from being sturdy and hence, perfect yet.

While the phone’s screen costs lesser to replace, it still is an expensive phone though, and once you save enough for the new Moto Razr, you probably don’t want to spend more on-screen replacements immediately, so we suggest try not to drop the device in the first place!
