Xiaomi to discontinue Redmi Note 7 in India
The Redmi Note 7S will be set to replace the Note 7, with the latter model being phased out.
Earlier on this week, Xiaomi, under its new sub-brand launched the Redmi Note 7S in India and while it sounds like an interesting prospect for those seeking a 48MP smartphone on a tight budget, this new device encroached on another smartphone from the Note 7 series — the Redmi Note 7. In a bid to strategize its market and more importantly be less confusing for consumers, Xiaomi is now replacing the Redmi Note 7 with the Note 7S.
It might look like that, but in reality the Note 7 gets phased out.

This bit of information was made available by Xiaomi’s Raghu Reddy and corroborated by the brand’s Product PR representative, Yash Garg.
This news should not come as a shock to most as the handsets are priced pretty similarly and come with nearly identical hardware; with the difference being the cameras that are found on the Note 7S being of superior quality. The Redmi Note 7S comes with 48MP + 5MP shooters on the rear while the Redmi Note 7 comes with 12MP + 2MP cameras on the back.
As far as pricing goes, the Redmi Note 7 starts at Rs 9,999 while the Redmi Note 7S’ pricing begins at Rs 10,999. The 4GB/64GB Redmi Note 7 is priced at Rs 11,999 while the Redmi Note 7S with a similar configuration is priced at Rs 12,999.
With Xiaomi confirming that the Redmi Note 7 will be phased out in favour of the Redmi Note 7S, this effectively aligns it with the brand’s offerings in the Chinese market.
