Apple will be making a few surprise upgrades to the iPhone 11's design, camera, Face ID and storage.

With the Apple event rumoured to be hosted on September 10, details about the Cupertino brand’s upcoming flagship iPhones are beginning to gain pace. While leaks and rumours about Apple’s products have been emerging since months, there are still a few surprises Apple has in store for us come to the launch date. The latest bit of information comes via Filip Koroy of EverythingApplePro and Max Weinbach of XDA-Developers and they have detailed some interesting features that are due to be a part of the iPhone 11 series.

The duo has claimed that Apple will be making a few surprise upgrades to the iPhone 11’s design, camera, Face ID and storage. By combining all these leaks, we will get some smartphones that are truly worth an upgrade. These new features will inject life into the iPhone 11 that has often been ridiculed for its weird design and even stranger branding.

As far as the design goes, Apple will be adding a matte finish that will feel a lot different in comparison to the glossy back of previous generations. The handsets will boast a rainbow shimmer on the Apple logo on the rear and the iPhone branding will be dropped. This will be the first time in 12 years where Apple ditches the ‘iPhone’ branding.

As far as camera upgrades go, Apple will add machine learning into the image capture by integrating it with a feature called “Siri Intelligence.” iPhone rival brands like Huawei are already using AI on its smartphone cameras with great success. Koroy goes on to claim that Apple will now be using three lenses for capturing Portrait Mode data and 4K at 30fps recording will be available with the all-new 120-degree wide-angle camera. This will be an iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max exclusive. The microphones will also help with better stereo video recording.

In what may be great news to the Apple faithful, the base variant of the handset will be 128GB which is double the storage that’s found on the iPhone XS. There will be three storage tiers — 128GB, 256GB and 512GB.

Face ID will also be getting a major upgrade and this will be on par with Touch ID that’s found on the iPhone 8. With the third-generation of Face ID, users will find a massive increase in speed and given how many times an iPhone is unlocked in a day, this will be quite a beneficial upgrade.
