Opera Touch browser for mobile unveiled
The company claims that the Opera Touch has been designed from the ground up to fit the way people actually use the web.
Opera announced its latest two new products – Opera Touch, a new mobile browser and – a new version of the Opera browser for computers.
The company claims that the Opera Touch has been designed from the ground up to fit the way people actually use the web. The new mobile browser is designed to seamlessly connect with the updated Opera PC browser without the need of establishing a password or login.
According to Opera’s research conducted on US smartphone users, 86 per cent prefer to hold their smartphones with one hand while also engaging in other tasks such as eating, commuting, walking or shopping. The Opera Touch was created with considering these people in mind and this new browser's navigation has been designed to be used with just one hand, offering a more comfortable experience while browsing.
Launching Opera Touch takes the user to start in search mode and can instantly ready to find things on the web. The new browser also supports voice search and lets you scan QR and barcodes.
The browser also features a Fast Action Button at the bottom of the screen to perform the one-handed browsing experience. This new feature is always available on the browser screen and provides direct access to the most recent tabs and a search feature. It also allows the user to navigate through all of the browser’s features with only one finger. The browser also includes a new type of syncing feature between devices and desktop browsers. It showcases a QR code displayed in the Opera computer browser which should be scanned with Opera Touch. This results in Flow – which allows users to share links, images, videos or notes with themselves. It is available both in Opera Touch and in the updated version of the Opera PC browser. This new sync feature also allows users to eliminate the need for entering passwords during logins. Flow promises to be end-to-end encrypted and works independently of operating systems and manufacturers.
The Opera browser for computers has also been updated. The new version of the PC browser works together with Opera Touch through the Flow feature. It also includes Instant Search, a new feature which lets users quickly search the web and their open tabs. Opera Touch is a free application available for Android on Google Play and will be coming to iOS soon.
