Snappables is a new form of interactive Lenses through which Snapchatters can share experiences and play together in Augumented Reality.
Snapchat has announced a new feature to its app called Snappables — new Lenses for sharing experiences and playing augmented reality games with your friends. You can control Snappables using touch, motion, and even facial expressions.
The company claims that Snappables is a new form of interactive Lenses through which Snapchatters can share experiences and play together in AR anytime and anywhere.
These experiences will live right in Snapchat’s Lens Carousel, but this time to the left side of the circular capture button. And, the World and face Lenses today sections are shifted to the right.
To get started, a user needs to tap on a Lens icon and then follow the on-screen directions. Some Snappables invite you to jump into another world together and then invite your friends to join in. For instance, Snapchatters with their friends can start a rock band or a dance party whenever necessary. The company claims that other Snappables are more game-like. These Snappables are activated by your facial expressions and movements.
Snappables will begin rolling out to Snapchatters globally this week on iOS and Android. New Snappables are already available in the carousel dynamically, just like other Lenses.
Lastly, the company feels that these new Snappables as just the beginning of a new type of AR experience on Snapchat. Up until now, Lenses have been about transforming looks of a user or the user's world around through content. The company claims that these Snappables are the first shared AR experiences on Snapchat.
