Nokia begins beta tests for Android 8.0 Oreo

The beta test will allow developers to test their apps and services before the company rolls out the final build.

Up until now, the Nokia phones have been running on stock Android interface. Continuing with its promise of delivering timely updates, Nokia also rolls out Google's timely security patches on all Nokia devices.

HMD Global, the official brand license of Nokia, soon after announcing Android 8.0 Oreo beta for the flagship Nokia 8, has now confirmed the same for all the rest of its Android smartphone line-up — Nokia 8, 7, 6 and 3. HMD Global announced the launch of the all-new Nokia phones beta labs in the tweet. So, Nokia users can now get a taste of Android Oreo by the end of November. Currently, only the Nokia 8 is supported.

To become Android 8.0 Oreo beta tester, Nokia users will have to head to the Nokia phone beta page, and sign up with their Google accounts.  After registering with IMEI number and other details, Nokia users will get Android 8.0 Oreo software update notification within 12 hours. The new Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode will enable users to participate in video conferencing or watch YouTube while surfing the web or doing some other activity, all through a floating window.

The beta build will bring some of Oreo’s highlighted features such as auto-fill passwords, Google Play Protect security scans, Picture-in-Picture (PiP), notification dots and faster boot ups.
