Xiaomi unveiled its unexpected bezel-less Mi Mix concept smartphone nearly a month ago. This device has set new records for the company since November with the first sale to end within ten seconds and the second to end within 30 seconds. However, the Chinese company did not offer too many details regarding the exact release date of the Android updates that this device is scheduled to receive.

A source familiar with Xiaomi’s plans suggests that the Mi Mix smartphone is set to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update soon. “Now, I received relatively ‘reliable’ news that your beloved Mi Mix will be getting Android 7.0 Nougat ROM updates! Mi Mix is the second Mi device, after Mi 5 to receive Android 7.0 Nougat ROM updates! And I’m sure everyone will be very excited and looking forward to this new Android ROM updates!,” leakster that goes by the username of GR33dyBlackie posted on one of Xiaomi’s forums.

While internal testing might have already begun, however, expect the update to be released as beta-build first.

What to expect in the update

Users will be able to switch between apps with just a double tap and they will also be able to run two apps side by side, thanks to the multi-window view and quick switch between apps features. Moreover, users will access to over 1,500 emojis including 72 new ones that will be added along with multi-local language settings. The latest Vulkan API, VR mode and an improved Doze mode for better battery life will also be included.
