iPhone XR 2 to come with telephoto lens
This year's Apple's budget iPhone will sport a dual-lens system and feature a 2x optical zoom.
Since a couple of weeks, rumours about the next generation iPhones have been gaining momentum with reputed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Quo claiming that the iPhone 11 and 11 Max will come with a triple camera setup. Now, rumours of the next-generation iPhone XR are gaining traction as well with reports claiming that one of the two lenses on the rear will feature a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.
A report from Macotakara claims that information regarding the iPhone XR’s camera setup is pretty slim but it will borrow key elements from the iPhone XS and XS Max and apart from this there won’t be any major upgrades. They note that it will still pack a 2x optical zoom that’s achieved by a dual-camera module which in all likelihood be similar to the iPhone XS and XS Max. If the rumours are to be believed, the iPhone XR 2 will come with a 12MP primary sensor that’s paired with a 12MP telephoto lens.
This feature will most likely take place since Apple will reuse parts found on the iPhone XS and XS Max in order to keep the price of the iPhone XR as low as possible. While the rear camera won’t feature any significant upgrade, the front-facing shooter will see a spec bump from 7MP on the current generation iPhone to 12MP on the second-gen iPhone XR.
As of now, nothing is yet set in stone and since Apple will release their handsets in September, plans could change along the way.
