First 5G smartphone with SD855 to come from Lenovo
The 5G smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 SoC which is yet to be launched for smartphones.
With 4G providing us sufficiently fast internet speed, smartphone manufacturers and mobile connection providers are consistently pushing their limits to bring down the 5G technology on a wide level.
As for the smartphones, we might see the first mass-produced handset with 5G technology enabled from Lenovo, if the company's Vice President Chang Cheng's statement is anything to go by. Also reported is the expected chipset which will be handling all the operations on the 5G smartphone and it will be the yet-to-be-introduced Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 SoC.
Talking about the behemoth chipset, the Snapdragon 855 is under production since June this year, as told by tipster Ronald Quandt. Considering all the possibilities, we can expect the 5G phone from Lenovo to get uncovered by the end of this year or early 2019, exact timing cannot be commented on.
Apart form Lenovo, OPPO is yet another player which is eyeing towards the 5G smartphone area as it had announced its partnership with Qualcomm with the aim to launch 5G smartphones in 2019. Other devices which are expected to venture into the 5G smartphone territory are Huawei and OnePlus. Samsung is also rumoured to introduce the high-end connectivity functionality with its future flagship - Galaxy S10.
