Samsung Galaxy Fold release date leaked, could clash with next iPhone
The launch of Samsung's Galaxy fold which was set to be the world's first foldable smartphone was shifted indefinitely from April.
Samsung has always been better at renovating their products than bringing out the latest in cutting edge technology. This is evident right from the evolution of their Galaxy series smartphones to the Galaxy smartwatches.
The Galaxy Fold, which was set to become the world’s first foldable smartphone back in April suffered the same fate. Its release date was indefinitely pushed after many beta testers faced durability issues in the phone’s screen.
However, months later, Samsung has reportedly reworked on and perfected their device and now that it is set to launch again, we have a leaked release date for the Galaxy Fold.
The device is set to launch between September 18 and 20 according to a Korean financial news site ‘The Investor’.
Up against Apple
The launch of the Galaxy Fold will likely be the same week in which Apple will launch the next generation of their iPhone series, the iPhone XI, iPhone XI Max and iPhone XIR.
The launch of a controversial USD 2,000 phone in the same week as the new Apple iPhones could prove to be a bad move for the Korean brand, as the device already is a hard device to sell for the masses thanks to its heavy price tag.
It remains to be seen if Samsung can pull of the difficult task of launching a niche phone at a time when heavyweight Apple puts out their next flagship that, comparitively, a lot more people will likely be willing to put their money on.
