Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and why it’s a must buy for FPS fans
It’s Call of Duty time. This time around the ball was in Treyarch’s court, and if history is any indicator of the quality of their work, one ought to expect a good game.
Enter Black Ops III and again, Treyarch has managed to push the boundaries of what we as gamers have come to expect from this franchise. Before we jump into this review, let’s get one thing crystal clear — Call of Duty Black Ops III has a lot to offer, and is definitely worth the buy.
Now that we have that out of the way, let’s see what the game has to offer. First up, Single Player. As is tradition for CoD games, the campaign works as a sort of extended tutorial for the multiplayer, where you are most likely going to end up spending most of your time. Treyarch has overhauled the single-player experience completely by introducing heavy RPG elements like skill trees and class bonuses and above all made it a class based co-op mode. This introduces a completely new dynamic into the whole experience. Moreover, the campaign allows you to play through as either a male or a female and both have been nicely voice acted. While the story is clichéd and predictable, the fact that this 6 hour game mode offers tons of replay value.
Zombies makes yet another triumphant return with Jeff Goldblum as the lead voice actor. This mode goes from zero to a thousand in under a minute and has you frantically running around trying to survive.
Onto the meat of the game and that is multiplayer. The most significant change that can be seen is in the map design. Treyarch seems to have gone for clean simple maps more akin to MOBA maps and this helps keep the combat fluid .
All in all, Treyarch needs to be commended for the effort that they have put in as the game truly is very enjoyable. It is definitely the best entry into the franchise since Black Ops II.
