CMOSIS announces 48MP sensor with 8K resolution

CMOSIS is the firm that develops image sensors for the Leica M.

CMOSIS, the firm that develops image sensors for the Leica M has announced a 48MP CMOS sensor— named CMV50000, with 8K resolution at 30fps support and advanced noise production.

In order to deliver a faster output, the 36.43 x 27.62 mm sensor uses 22 12-bit sub-LVDS data outputs.

The sensor comes equipped with a HDR mode, supported by an odd/even row dual-exposure operation, combined with a black level clamping which will help it deliver advanced noise-reduction.

CMOSIS claimed the sensor to be suitable for use in TV broadcasting and video cameras. At present, the monochrome version of the CMV5000 sensor is available for sampling to camera manufacturers at a price of $3,800. However, a colour option is expected to be available by the end of the year at a same price.
