Google has its stage all set and ready to launch their flagship hardware at the San Francisco event at 8.30pm IST today. The event will see the search giant CEO Sundar Pichai unveil two new flagship smartphones under the Pixel brand on October 4, which will be streamed live to the world. Going with various leaks and speculations till date, Google will be launching two new Pixel phones, previously known as Nexus. Google has dumped the Nexus branding with a new name Pixel, which will now be manufactured by Google themselves under the tag 'Made by Google'. The previous Nexus series were manufactured by various brands, namely HTC, Huawei, LG and a few others.
The Pixel smartphones are reportedly targeting the iPhone 7 with a premium pricing, which is speculated to start from USD 649 onwards. As far as the hardware specifications (leaked) are concerned, the Pixel phones will come in two variants - a regular Pixel and a Pixel XL. While the Pixel will sport a 5-inch display, the XL will feature a 5.5-inch screen. Both smartphones are said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4GB of RAM with a unibody design made from a combination of metal and glass.
Google's Pixel smartphones will be known for their Android flavours — as usual Google always releases its latest Android operating systems on the Nexus smartphones first (now will be named as Pixel) and will then be followed by other manufacturers. The Pixel in future will be the first smartphones to get the latest in Android operating systems before any other brand or handset. The Google Pixel and Pixel XL will be released with Google's latest Android version 7.0 Nougat. Google has also renamed its famous Nexus launcher to Pixel Launcher, and the new OS will also feature a plethora of new features.
Apart from the Pixel smartphones being unveiled, speculations claim that Google will also be announcing some more devices alongside. A new upgraded Google Chromecast, Google Daydream (a VR headset), a new Amazon Echo-like Google Home speaker and Andromeda are also likely on the plate.
The event will be streamed tonight and Google will reveal the entire specifications, features and the prices of the products. However, Google has not mentioned anything on the release and pricing for the Indian market.
