Letv Bluetooth Speaker review: The audio companion
The speaker is a basic speaker with great audio and a simplistic design.
Bluetooth speakers have been one of the highly purchased accessories after power banks. And with smartphones having dull audio quality on their own, a Bluetooth speaker is probably the best to own alongside. If you are a person who consumes a lot of audio/video content on the move, a Bluetooth speaker is what you should have on you at all times. However, though there are several portable speakers offered by a lot of brands, it gets difficult to choose the right one, unless you have the option to get a demo from each one. While there are well-known brands that manufacture quality Bluetooth speakers, most are pretty expensive, and many have portability issues. Le Eco has a Bluetooth Speaker that can be high on your list if you are concerned about quality.
Le Eco, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer that stepped into the Indian market a while ago, has a range of smartphone accessories under its brand. The Letv Bluetooth speaker is one that speaks for itself and can probably give rivals a run for their money. With a powerful audio output and small footprint, the Letv Bluetooth Speaker is definitely recommended for all speaker hunters.
The Letv Bluetooth Speaker is a simple, no-brainer audio system that provides a great audio quality for a value price. Built with a metal mesh front and plastic housing, the speaker is a simple audio extension to your smartphone, tablet or laptop on the go. It comprises of a single large button on the top that does all the needful for simple audio speaker. The power button doubles up as Bluetooth pairing and call answer/disconnect switch too, apart from play and pause. Sadly, there is no volume control on the device, but you can control the same from your smartphone directly. The power button has a circular ring light around it which indicates in blue when connected/pairing and in red when charging. Sadly, the device does not sport any audio in or AUX ports where one can attach an external audio player to use the speaker. However, with almost all audio/video gadgets available today, Bluetooth is a connectivity option available by default and you won’t need the AUX port anyways.
Cylindrical in shape with soft curved edges, the device has a rugged exterior and comes in four different colours. The speaker is comfortable to hold, but a bit too bulky and uncomfortable to place in your pocket and you would need to carry it along in your bag. In short—this speaker is perfect for your desktop.
The Letv Bluetooth Speaker features a total of three speakers within the 6.5-incher chassis. While two are placed upfront and meant for full range, one is for bass. The speaker has a built-in 1200mAh battery that can be charged via any micro USB charger and the device is good to play for almost eight hours at a stretch.
As for the performance, we were impressed. The audio volume is not very loud, but is good enough for a small house party and sorts. The audio quality is impressive and delivers clear and defined tones. Music listening is a pleasure; movie watching is great since vocals are clearly audible with highs and lows pretty well balanced. Bass thump is good, but not excellent — it’s toned down a bit since the speakers would tend to vibrate too much and add to audio distortion.
We did find one issue though — the speakers are highly directional. If the speaker front is facing you, the audio is crystal clear. But if they are facing the other direction, you can immediately tell the difference. In short — if you are using it for solo movie watching or audio pleasure, the device is your friend, but if you are using it for a short audio party, your guests could be a little disappointed.
The Letv Bluetooth Speaker is a basic speaker with great audio and a simplistic design. Though not highly portable, we would definitely recommend the product if you are looking for a personal, portable wireless audio speaker system. The LeEct Letv Bluetooth Speaker is priced at Rs 1,999, which competes directly with Xiaomi’s counterpart, but the latter seems to be highly portable, has a higher audio volume and features an AUX in port too.
