Season Two of the Champions Tennis League got under way with a thrilling legends singles match between Richard Krajicek and Greg Rusedski at MSTLA here on Monday, bringing back memories of their rivalry in the late 1990s.

Left-handed 1997 US Open finalist Rusedki enjoyed a 6-4 record against Krajecik on the ATP circuit though on the day the 1996 Wimbledon champion however turned the tables with a 5-4 (5-3) win to give Mumbai Masters 1-0 lead.

Reigning US Open champion Flavia Pennetta was next up against 21-year-old Ukranian Elina Svitolina and the 33-year-old Italian closed the match out by a 5-2 margin.

Earlier, Vijay Amritraj, founder and chairman, CTL declared the second edition open and welcomed the players. As in Season 1, CTL will feature six city based teams. It will see 13 matches played over a two-week period. The finals will be played in Hyderabad.
