The Cricket Association for the Blind in India is all set to hold the second edition of the T20 Cricket World Cup in January next year.
In a boost to the event, Rahul Dravid was announced as brand ambassador of the tournament at an event in the city on Wednesday.
The opening match of the tournament which is to be held from January 28 to February 12 will be played in New Delhi, with the final scheduled to be held in Bengaluru.
Ten countries will be seen in action including, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Nepal, New Zealand Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies. As opposed to the previous edition which was held at one venue, this edition will be spread across eight cities.
Said Dravid, “It’s a great opportunity to grow and promote cricket for visually challenged. It is important for them, but it also proves as a great inspiration for everybody. I have tried to play cricket blindfold with this ball when we were in Delhi this year during the IPL and I had to back away after a while. They deserve all the encouragement and support they can get,” said the former India skipper.
