Ratan Rajput, who was seen in fleeting roles on TV is back as the lead in Santoshi Maa. She stars alongside Gracy Singh, who plays the title role. Speaking about her comeback Ratan says, “Aaj kal santosh ki kami hai (today there’s a dearth of happiness) so I felt that this show will connect with the audience. I don’t pray to one particular God, but I do believe in some superpower that manages us. As for Gracy, she is perfect as Santoshi Maa—calm, composed and has a certain aura around her.”

Back in 2011, Ratan was also part of the reality show Ratan Ka Rishta. She was to marry the winner Abhinav Sharma, but it was called off at the last minute. On the wedding front she continues, “I’m not planning anything because whenever I make plans, they flop. I believe that relationships are made by God and whenever he wants me to get married, I will.”

When she was away from acting, Ratan was happy staying home. “I enjoy cleaning my home and organising house parties. Also cooking and yoga.”

An ex-housemate in the Bigg Boss house, she admits that she isn’t watching the current season, as she doesn’t have pleasant memories of the experience. “The tasks were in fact, the easiest thing in the house. The gossip and backbiting is what made the show a bitter experience for me. I will never go back there; having survived my stay is an achievement.”
