The makers of & TV’s fiction series Adhuri Kahani Hamari were in for a rude shock when lead actress Mahima Makwana refused to get intimate with her leading man Laksh Lalwani for a consummation scene in the show. In a bid to steam up the ratings, the makers had painstakingly planned the sequence elaborately and put all their hopes on it but at the time of the shoot the lead actress put her foot down sending everyone in a tizzy.
Elaborating on the incident, a source from the production house reveals, “We all were looking forward to shoot the consummation scene and had planned it aesthetically to make sure it did not look outrageous in any way. To make matters worse, Mahima’s mother was also present on the set that very day. I guess her presence made the actress conscious and she flatly refused to film the love scenes with Laksh citing she is not comfortable.”
The source adds, “The sequence required Laksh to pull her on the bed and run his fingers through her navel. The moment we told the actress about the sequence, she threw a fit and demanded to have a word with the director. She specifically said she wouldn’t do the sequence unless it is toned down. The shoot was stalled till the commotion went on and finally the scene was shot after making drastic changes in the original script.”
When contacted Mahima said, “Yes I refused to do the scene because I felt it was too intimate. My mother’s presence has got nothing to do with my refusal to shoot. I am very young to film such sequences. Hence I had reservations. Even if my mother wasn’t present, I would not have done it because I felt it was too much. I had a word with my director and explained to him my discomfort would be visible in the scene too. I told him to tone it down to a level where I could be comfortable filming it. I did not want the show to suffer and had no intentions of inconveniencing those involved. I readily shot when they made the changes.”
