Seventy-five-year-old actress Tripta Lakhanpal, who impressed audiences with her dadi act in the blockbuster film, Queen, faced the camera for the fist time only at 63 for an advertisement. Although Tripta featured in a number of ad films, she didn’t give up on her dream of starring in a mainstream Bollywood film. The actress received wide acclaim as Kangana’s grandmother in the superhit movie.
Now, the spunky actress has been roped in to play the role of the protagonist’s Mehek’s pardaadi in the new show, Zindagi Ki Mehek. Sharing her excitement, Tripta says, “The show is a lifetime opportunity for me. I’m playing the character of PD (pardaadi). PD might be the oldest member in the family but her thoughts are as modern as any teenager’s. She shares a special bond with her granddaughter Mahek.”
Her acting aspirations took a backseat, as her family became her priority. She says, “I always wanted to be an actor, but circumstances were such that I couldn’t pursue my dream at a young age. But, what I couldn’t achieve then, I am trying to achieve now. I got so busy with my family, that my foremost dream took a back seat. I eventually found my way and I’m living my dream. I finally managed to achieve in my 70s what I dreamt of as a 16-year-old girl.”
