Shakti Arora may be a popular television actor today, but not many know that he started his career as an extra in 2001 with Karan Johar’s movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Shakti’s candid revelation surprised everyone on the sets of Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, including Karan himself, who had no idea about Shakti’s involvement.

It so happened that as part of the family special theme for the show, Shakti performed an act with his father Naresh Kumar Arora. The performance left the actor overwhelmed with emotions. Shakti then began recounting his

struggling days, and how he happened to face the camera for the first time for Karan Johar’s movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. Shakti says, “I was all of 18 at that time. By some stroke of luck, my friend and I were playing extras in the movie. I was awestruck by the whole experience — now, after so many years, I have got the chance to perform in front of Karan sir week after week. I never imagined something like this could ever happen to me.”

Shocked and humbled by Shakti’s revelation, Karan said, “It’s truly amazing that you have never mentioned this earlier. Today I feel a deep connection with him and his family.”
