On the occasion of Bakri Eid, telly actors tell us about their plans and what they plan to sacrifice as mark of respect to the custom qurbani

Iqbal Khan- Man is a slave to desires, so I would like to give up all the materialistic desires I may harbour, for the will of God this Eid. My day will start by offering Eid ki Namaz and then we will have the customary qurbani. We distribute the meat to relatives and the needy. My uncle has come down from Kashmir, so I will be having Eid lunch with his family.

Rahil Azam- An actor’s life is always hectic. The biggest sacrifice I could make is to give my waqt (time) to God. If we give at least 15 minutes of our time everyday to remember God and thank him for his kindness, it would be great. I am in Bangalore right now for the event, just as I am each year. I make it a point to go to the mosque with my father to offer Eid ki Namaz. When you stand beside your father and bow down before the almighty the feeling is totally surreal. Its gives me immense happiness to be amongst my loved ones and ring in the festival.

Ayaz Khan- I am addicted to chocolates. This Eid, if I had to sacrifice something for the will of God, it will have to be the chocolates. We do qurbani every year in our hometown, Lucknow. My chacha does it on our behalf and distributes the meat to the needy. However, we cannot do qurbani in Mumbai, as its just me and mom. Besides we are always dieting, so no meat for us. We are going to make sheer khurma and distribute it to our neighbours.

Aasif Sheikh- Since you are meant to sacrifice the thing you love the most, I would like to give away all my fame for the will of God. The day starts with me offering the Eid ki Namaz and then I do the qurbani. We have a grand feast at home too. Some male friends have requested me to get raw meat on the sets of my show Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, so they can cook it for the entire crew.

Sara Khan- I would like to sacrifice my ego for the will of God this Eid. I will not be doing qurbani this year, as I am busy shooting for Kawach. But, I am going to take some mutton korma and naan for everyone on the sets to celebrate Eid. Bakri Eid is not just about eating goat, it’s also learning about loss.

Mohd. Nazim- I will be sacrificing my ego this Eid, and will try to be more humble than before, as I believe in the power of good will. This time around, I am not dieting for a change so I will be binging on Eid delicacies like chhole puri and sevaiyan. I will be surprising the crew members of Sathiya by ordering delicious biryani for all of them.
