Pakistan destabilising Afghan situation, says Salahuddin Rabbani

Washington: Pakistan’s reluctance to end its support to terrorism in Afghanistan undermines efforts to ensure peace in the country, the Afghan foreign minister has said and asked the US to put pressure on Islamabad to stop it from using terrorism as an instrument of state policy. Minister Salahuddin Rabbani also praised India for its consistent support to the war-torn country’s reconstruction and development.
Terror groups continue to have safe havens in Pakistan and its establishment provides unhindered support to terrorists, Rabbani said. Noting that the Ghani government, soon after coming to power, tried to open a new chapter of relationship with Islamabad, Mr Rabbani told a Washington audience, “Unfortunately, we did not see practical steps taken by Pakistan on the promises they made.”
