Islamabad: ‘Discarded’ women are making headlines in Pakistan as they accuse top politicians of harassing or deceiving them.

Ayesha Ahad, surfaced on Sunday, demanding a transparent inquiry into the allegations she made against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s nephew Hamza Shehbaz Sharif. She accused the younger Sharif of marrying her and then throwing her out of his life.

Earlier, Ayesha Gulalai Wazir - a member of the national assembly - had accused Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan of sending ‘inappropriate’ messages to her.  A parliamentary committee has been set-up by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to investigate the case.

At a news conference, Ayesha Ahad said that there was a “limit to one’s patience.” She said she had been going to the courts since the past seven years but to no avail. “Nawaz Sharif and Kulsoom Nawaz (Mr Sharif’s wife) are witnesses to my matters,” she said, adding, “Hamza Shehbaz lied to me. We got married in 2010.”

Ms Ahad stated that Hamza Shehbaz had told her that he had divorced Mehrunnisa and she had believed his lie and married him. “I would go to the Election Commission of Pakistan to get Hamza disqualified,” she warned.

Television channels and the newspapers have been running the stories of the two women as headlines. Ms Wazir, as a lawmaker, captured special attention.
