Pakistani govt, Army ties set to get worse, says Pildat
Moreover, the ousted Prime Minister's statements regarding military establishments are becoming more pronounced.
Islamabad: Relations between the Pakistani civilian and military leadership are not good, Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (Pildat) said on Thursday.
“After the disqualification of the Prime Minister (Nawaz Sharif), a report has been released which predicts that in the coming days civil-military relations may get worse. Moreover, the ousted Prime Minister’s statements regarding military establishments are becoming more pronounced. On the other hand, Army chief General Qamar Bajwa also gave a statement regarding upholding of the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law,” Pildat president Ahmed Bilal Mehboob said at a news conference.
“I believe that the civil-military relations will get worse in the near future and it will result in chaos,” added. “Moreover, there is a huge difference in views regarding relations with India and Afghanistan,” Mr Mehboob pointed out. “Mostly the issue of Afghanistan was discussed in NSC meeting, but there seems to be no consensus between civil and military establishments,” he said.
