Nawaz Sharif will continue to consult the other Sharif
Pak PM said that under the outgoing army chief, Pakistan's armed forces confronted not only external threats but also terrorism.
Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said outgoing Army Chief Raheel Sharif will continue to be consulted on national affairs. Addressing a farewell reception hosted by him for General Sharif Thursday night, the PM said he always relied on the former’s strategic advice. “I will continue to seek advice of General Raheel Sharif in the future as well,” he added.
The PM said that under the outgoing army chief, Pakistan’s armed forces confronted not only external threats but also terrorism. “We successfully established the writ of the state, and reclaimed every inch of territory under our sovereign control,” he said.
Mr Sharif said his forces can take pride in the flawless execution of Operation Zarb-e Azb, recognised as the most successful anti-terrorism operation in the world.
