Pakistan summons Indian envoy
The D-G urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire deal.
Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday summoned a senior Indian diplomat over an alleged ceasefire violation on the LoC that killed a civilian and injured four others.
The foreign office said the director general South Asia and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Dr Mohammad Faisal summoned acting Indian deputy high commissioner S. Raghuram and “condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian forces in Nikial Sector on June 28.”
A statement said the Indian firing resulted in the death of one civilian — Abdul Wahab (22) of Dothilla Village — and injuries to four others — Muhammad Shakeel, Muhammad Arshad, Asif Mahmood and Safira Bibi from Mohra Village.
“The deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws,” the foreign office said. The D-G urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire deal.
