London: An 87-year-old woman in Manchester, United Kingdom died after she was repeatedly kicked and punched by a man for her golden wedding ring.
According to a report in Daily Mail, Eileen Blane said her attacker forced his way into her house in Stretford, Greater Manchester and attacked her, before snatching her ring away.
In the incident that took place in February 2017, the man repeatedly kicked and punched her, leaving her with two broken ribs, a broken vertebra and severe bruises on her face.
She managed to flee with her dog and hid at her neighbour’s house while the thief robbed her house. He then fled the place before the police arrived.
The victim said that the wedding band was of ‘huge sentimental value’ and that she had kept it even after her husband died 13 years ago. She described the attack as a nightmare and said that the attacker ‘just wouldn’t stop assaulting her’.
Blane suffered from her injuries for two months in hospital before she succumbed to them. She died at her house the day after she was discharged in April and the incident is being treated as a murder case.
