It has been four years since Karan Johar released Student Of The Year and gave Bollywood a new generation of stars in Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. And now the filmmaker is gearing up to direct its sequel, which will star none other than Tiger Shroff in the lead.
Ever since Karan Johar expressed his desire to take the Student Of The Year franchise forward, B-Town was abuzz with speculations about the film’s star cast. Several rumours suggested that Shahid Kapoor’s stepbrother Ishaan Khattar and Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan would make their Bollywood debut with the film. However, we informed you earlier that the makers were considering Tiger Shroff for the role. And now filmmaker Karan Johar himself has made the news official. While Student Of The Year 2 stars Tiger Shroff as its leading man, Punit Malhotra, who directed I Hate Luv Storys, will helm the project.
Karan took to his official Twitter account and confirmed the news and wrote, “It’s OFFICIAL....Directed by Punit Malhotra STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2 ( SOTY2) with TIGER SHROFF @iTIGERSHROF.”
Minutes after Karan’s tweet, Alia, Sidharth and Varun poured in their congratulatory messages and wished the team all the very best on Twitter. Though Tiger and Punit have hopped on board, the film’s leading lady is yet to be finalised.
