Besharam fails to make a mark
The worst fears came true for Besharam within the first few days of its release. Given the kind of wide release and a holiday arrival that the film was enjoying, it should have ideally crossed the '25 crore mark on the opening day and then consolidated its position. However, the cracks started widening on October 2 itself when the film just about managed to cross the '20 crore-mark. Disaster struck again on Thursday and Friday when it suffered a massive decline. There was not much respite on the weekend either, thereby resulting in a total downfall. The film couldn’t even cross the '50 crore-mark despite three holidays in its first five days. The Abhinav Kashyap film had a lot going for it, more so because it was a solo release with no competition. The poor content and uninspiring execution did the film in and the audience gave it a massive thumbs down. Though the makers believe that their product has been sabotaged, the fact remains that the film did have a substantial opening after all on its first day and after that, it was audience that pulled the film down, and no one else.
