Don’t want to be known as a spoof in Hollywood, says Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra has now added another feather to her cap by winning the title of ‘Hottest Woman of the Decade’ and being the only woman to make it to Maxim Hot 100 list three times.

Recently, the latest edition of Maxim India, which features Priyanka on the cover was slammed for retouching her picture. However, the actress dealt with the issue in style and posted a no-filter picture of her underarms. Priyanka, who was at an event recently to launch the latest edition of Maxim, commented on the ‘armpit’ controversy and said, “I showed my real... that word is too dirty (armpit). But the way I see it, I must be a big star if my armpits were on CNN America. So yes, my reaction was to put up a photograph out on Twitter so you can judge for yourselves.”

While she has already carved a niche for herself in Hollywood, Priyanka further added that she wants to break the stereotypes surrounding Indian actors in the West. When asked how she feels about being an icon, she said, “Icon is a very tricky word. Icon is someone who is a legendary personality irrespective of success or failure. I haven’t reached that far yet. I want to leave a legacy for my children that they can be proud of. I want to spread my footprint across the world and I don’t want to be known as a spoof in Hollywood.”

Speaking to reporters at the event, the Quantico star further said, “I want to break the stereotype about Indian actors. We have talent and that’s why someone like me got to do a TV show like Quantico or a movie like Baywatch. I don’t want to be like someone else. I always wanted to grow up and be Priyanka Chopra. I admire a lot of people and I imbibe their best qualities. You have to find what is unique about you and the best version of yourself.”

Talking about Indian actors entering Hollywood, she said, “I feel that this trend is just the beginning. Indian actors deserve respect. We have been boxed into a certain mould. But we can do much more and that’s why I want to be able to open doors for us. I hope that they (Indian actors) will be more successful than me,” she said.

When asked what’s next for her, the actress responded that she never plans her career. “I am very instinctive. I go with what comes my way. I don’t know what is next, but it will be something creative,” she added.
