An extravagant set built for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has begun working on his next magnum opus Padmavati. A huge set is being constructed at Mehboob Studios for the film even though an official announcement about the film’s star-cast is yet to be made.

The work on the grand set started few days ago and will mostly likely be completed in around three weeks. If everything goes as planned, the film will go on floors next month.

The makers of the film had their eyes on Filmcity and wanted to build a lavish set there but due to a packed schedule and no luck with the bookings, they settled on Mehboob studios for the time being.

The Bajirao Mastani director is known for portraying tragic love stories, but this time he is trying his hand at an anti-hero project, which is based on ruthless ruler Alauddin Khilji’s obsession for Mewar queen Padmavati.

B-Town is abuzz with reports suggesting that the film will see Ranveer Singh as Khilji to his ladylove Deepika’s Padmavati. The actor has so far not confirmed any rumours, even though he was spotted leaving SLB’s studio in Juhu earlier this week.
