Gautami Tadimalla recently confirmed in her personal blog that her 13-year-long relationship with Tamil megastar Kamal Haasan is at an end. Titled Life and Decisions, the blog post reads “After almost 13 years together, it has been one of the most devastating decisions that I have ever had to make in my life It has taken me a very long time, a couple of years at the very least, to accept this heartbreaking truth and come to this decision.”
Gautami and Kamal first met on the sets of Apoorva Sagodharargal in 1989 and got into a live-in relationship in year 2005, but refused to marry each other because they lacked faith in the institution of marriage.
Gautami, who starred opposite Kamal in films like Aboorva Sagotharargal, Thevar Magan and the recent Papanasam, added that it was not an easy decision to part ways with him. “This decision to set forth on my own at this stage in my life is perhaps one of the most difficult decisions any woman will ever have to make but it is a necessary one for me. For I am a mother first and foremost and I have a responsibility to my child to be the best mother that I can be. And to do that, it is essential that I am at peace within myself,” she wrote. Speculations were also doing the rounds of a rift between the actress and Kamal’s daughter, Shruti. Reportedly, Shruti was unhappy with Gautami’s styling in Sabaash Naidu, a film she’s doing with her father, and had turned down the costumes that Kamal’s partner had selected for her. There were also rumours that a day’s shooting had to be called off due to a fight between the two. However, later Shruti squashed the rumour when her spokesperson said that all was well between the two.
