Great Grand Masti leak costs Madaari

The online leak of Great Grand Masti may be very bad news for its filmmakers, but it spells equally bad news for the makers of Irrfan Khan-starring political thriller, Madaari.

The online leak of Great Grand Masti may be very bad news for its filmmakers, but it spells equally bad news for the makers of Irrfan Khan-starring political thriller, Madaari. Thanks to the leak, Great Grand Masti’s release has been preponed to July 15, the same date that Madaari was to be out. This means that there will be a tussle for screens between the two films — GGM produced by Balaji Telefilms and Madaari, directed by Nishikant Kamat.

Nishikant however, remains outwardly unperturbed. “Madaari and Great Grand Masti belong to completely different genres. They both have a mutually exclusive audience. As long as they both get enough screens they should not affect each other.”

Madaari’s producer, Shailesh Singh admits that this is an unexpected setback for both films. “I don’t think the two films are competition for one another. But they are coming on the same Friday. What happened with Great Grand Masti, the online leak, was very unfortunate. Now the two films will bear the consequences.”
