It is the content that brought us together, says Krishika Lulla

Every time producer Krishika Lulla and filmmaker Anand L. Rai have come together, they’ve created magic on the screen. The duo is back again this time with their next venture, Happy Bhag Jayegi, a cross-border romance that is already making noise for its trailer and casting choices. In a chat with us, Krishika explains why she chose Happy as her next venture. Telling us about associating with Anand, she says, “It’s my third collaboration with Anand L. Rai. We believe in same kind of cinema, that is why we are working together a lot. We did Tanu Weds Manu franchise and Raanjhana and it is the content and the ensemble cast that brought us together yet again.”

Apart from the subject, another aspect of the film that’s making the right kind of news is its casting. Telling us about how she managed to rope in Abhay and Diana for the film, Krishika says, “Diana believed in the content and that’s why she chose our film as a comeback after four years. Abhay is so picky, but he loved the subject too. Other interesting additions are Momal Sheikh from Pakistan and Piyush ji (Mishra) who lights up the audience every time he comes on screen.”

As for Jimmy Shergill, who has been a constant element in shades of grey in her films, Krishika says, “It’s coincidental. It just so happened that both the roles Jimmy has played in Tanu and Happy are in a similar vein. People ask me why is it that he’s always the guy who lets the bride slip away But it has become a fun element now. He’s brilliant and I have no complaints.”

So, any plans for Tanu Weds Manu 3 , “Tanu Weds Manu was a fabulous film. We could make the second film since we had good content and if we make it into a trilogy, we need to have stronger content than the previous two because the expectations will be much higher.
