Preity Zinta constructs well for Maharashtra village
Preity Zinta, who was in news for her hush-hush wedding ceremony with Gene Goodenough a few months ago, seems to be doing her bit to help victims of the severe drought in Maharashtra. The actress has constructed a well in a village near Nashik city in Maharashtra that was inaugurated on Sunday. The well was constructed with the motive to conserve water to help the drought affected villagers. The state has been experiencing water shortage for a very long time, due to which even the IPL matches were shifted from Nagpur to Mohali. The actress took to social media to thank the team that helped her accomplish the task.
Preity has been doing her bit for social causes for a while now. In the past she has vocally expressed her views on various women’s and children’s issues in India, even participating in fundraisers for several charities. In 2010 she became the brand ambassador for The Loomba Trust, a charity that supports widows and their children. She is also associated with Red Cross that provides relief to victims of natural disasters, enabling them to prevent and prepare for emergency situations.
